FAQ
Common questions about Storage Optimizer for Confluence.
Will deleting pages reduce my storage bill?
Only if those pages carried attachments. Page text, comments and page version history are billed as zero bytes.
I emptied the trash and nothing changed. Why?
Trashed content is already billed as zero bytes, so purging it cannot reduce your bill. It is the one cleanup step with no effect.
Is it safe to delete old attachment versions?
The current version stays in place, on the same page, at the same URL. Readers see no difference.
The caveat is that deletion is permanent — Confluence has no undo for attachment versions and the trash does not hold them. If earlier drafts of a document are part of a record you are required to keep, leave that file alone.
Why does the app's total differ from what Atlassian shows me?
Usually index lag, scope or permissions. See Why a total may differ.
Why is my number still the same right after a cleanup?
Space and site scans read the Confluence search index, which lags by roughly eight to nine minutes. Page scans read live and update immediately.
Does the app send my content anywhere?
No. It is an Atlassian Forge app and declares no outbound network access, which Atlassian verifies. There is no system we operate that your Confluence content reaches. See Permissions in detail.
Does the app store my data anywhere?
No. It has no database, no Forge storage and no backend function. Figures are calculated for the view you have open and discarded when you close it — reopening the app re-reads from Confluence.
The one thing it writes is a single interface preference in your browser's local storage, recording whether you hid the scan summary. It holds no personal data and never leaves your browser.
Can it see content I cannot see?
No. The app acts as the signed-in user through the Confluence API. If you cannot open a space, the app cannot scan it — which also means a site-wide scan run by someone with partial access returns less than the true site total.
Does it work on Data Center or Server?
No. Forge apps run on Confluence Cloud only.
What does it cost?
The app is free while we gather feedback from real installs. If a paid version follows, existing installations will be told before anything changes.
How do I get help?
Email contact@bavetic.com with your Confluence site URL and, for questions about a specific figure, the space or page it appears on.
