What Storage Optimizer for Confluence does, and what it does not do.
Storage Optimizer shows what a Confluence Cloud site's storage quota is actually being spent on — including the old attachment versions Confluence itself never surfaces — and frees it again.
The problem it solves
Confluence bills you for every version of every attachment. Its own attachment list shows only the current version of each file. On a site where people re-upload documents, the versions you cannot see are usually the larger share of the bill.
Because nothing in Confluence adds those versions up, a site can sit close to its quota while every visible file looks reasonable.

What the app does
Measures. It totals billed bytes the way Atlassian counts them and breaks the total down by space, by page and by attachment.
Frees. It removes superseded attachment versions while leaving the current version in place, so nothing a reader opens is affected.
Verifies. It re-measures after a cleanup, so the space you freed is a measured figure rather than a projection.
What it does not do
- It does not reduce your bill by deleting pages, comments or whiteboards. Those are billed as zero bytes.
- It does not gain anything by purging the trash. Trashed content is free.
- It does not move your content anywhere. The app declares no outbound network access — see the permissions it asks for.

The app adds three views, which differ only in what they cover:
